Alcon AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR®.

The AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL is a breakthrough lens for cataract surgery that lets patients see from near to far, to everywhere in-between - usually without glasses. An innovative optical technology called “adodization” has been used for years in microscopes and telescopes to improve image quality. A similar technology has now been patented for use in intraocular lenses by Alcon, making the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® lens uniquely effective, especially when placed in both eyes.

The AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® lens comes from Alcon, the world leader in lenses for cataract surgery. Alcon’s AcrySof® IQ family of lenses is the most widely used brand for cataract surgery. The history of the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® family of lenses speaks for itself: more than 60 million AcrySof® IOL have been implanted worldwide. AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL patients are so pleased with their vision, 93% said they would have the AcrySof® IT ReSTOR® +3.0 D lens implanted again.

VisionCare™ CentraSight®.

CentraSight® is a novel treatment program that utilizes a tiny telescope to improve visual acuity and quality of life for patients with end-stage AMD. It is the only FDA-approved telescope prosthesis, employing wide-angle micro-optics in a Galilean telescope design.

The telescope implant, along with the cornea, enlarges images in front of the eye up to 2.7 times their normal size. This magnification reduces the effect the “blind spot” has on central vision caused by the scotoma associated with a patient’s AMD.

The telescope implant does not limit your natural eye movements, and does not require you to move your entire head, as you have to do with external magnifying appliances. You can use natural eye movements to see things that are close and far away from you, such as reading printed materials or watching television.
